Coed Recreational Soccer Association

Here is some important information for all referees working the CRSA (coed) League:

  • This is a recreational league with membership in SOASA.

  • All players will have ID cards and be on a team roster.

    • No more than 22 players on a team roster.

  •  No game reports required except notification of cards issued:

    • In case of yellow or red cards, the league coordinator (Tammy Zell) needs to know the name of the players involved. Tammy is also in charge of the Troy team and should be on site at every game. If she is not, please notify me (Mikael Lundqvist) and I will get the information to her.

  • League level of play is RECREATIONAL. The referees are to call the game accordingly.

  • FIFA Laws of the Game applies with the following exceptions:

    • Unlimited substitutions

    • Substitution opportunities are

      • Prior to throw-in (team of possession only)

      • Prior to goal kick

      • After a goal is scored.

      • After an injury when play is stopped

      • Prior to start of second half

    • Slide tackling (sliding on the ground) is illegal and is automatically an indirect free-kick (“dangerous play”).

      • Of course, it can become a direct free-kick or even cardable if contact is made and it becomes a trip or kicking.

      • (Goalkeepers may of course play “normally” and slide to make saves as long as it’s not endangering an opponent.)

    • Games consist of four 20 min quarters with a 2-3 min break between quarters and a 5 min halftime.

    • Grace time for a team to field enough players is 5 minutes.

    • NOTE:  In order to field eleven (11) players, a team must have at least four (4) female players on the field. One of the four may be the goalkeeper.

      • If a team is short female players, the team must play short.

      • If a team is short male players, more than four (4) female players may take the field.

      • A minimum of seven (7) players to start, two (2) of which must be female.

      • Examples:

        • Team A has 10 males and 2 females - play with 9 players (7+2)

        • Team B has 5 males and 6 females - play with 11 players (5+6)

        •  Team C has 11 males and 3 females - play with 10 players (7+3)

        • Team D has 15 males and 1 female - game is forfeited

  • Home team provides game ball and changes jerseys in case of color conflict.

  • Each player on a team must wear a different jersey number.

  • Shin guards are mandatory.

  • The game fees are:  $30.00 per referee. If only one referee is present, the game fee is $40.00. Each team pays half.
